The 2010-2011 academic year marks the fifth anniversary for The International School of Hospitality (TISOH) in Las Vegas with celebrations planned throughout the year, announced Timothy Lam, the Executive Director of the school.

“Despite the economy, our first five years resulted in major growth,” reported Lam. “With the help of industry and association partners such as the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute, Les Clefs d’Or USA, the National Association of Catering Executives Las Vegas and the Southern Nevada Hotel Concierge Association, the school successfully met its unique mission of developing practical, short-term, continuing education programs for the students wanting to enter or advance their careers in hospitality.”

Amidst the more recent challenging economic climate, TISOH’s curriculum expanded from one to nine certificate programs and two diploma programs, offered both as classroom and online learning opportunities. Hundreds of graduates successfully completed and started their careers in the hospitality industry in Vegas and worldwide. Having started on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the school facilities are now at 3614 East Sunset Road, near McCarran International Airport. Its state-of-the-art training classrooms support multi-media and discussion-style learning.

Planned anniversary celebrations focus on giving back to the industry and the public. They include celebratory events, free seminars and learning opportunities. The first is scheduled for September 1 from 6 PM – 8 PM on campus. It is an open house with industry guests available to talk about careers opportunities in hospitality. It is free and open to the public.
