iPhone Medical App for travellers
With 50 per cent of travellers developing some type of illness while away, a leading Australian travel doctor has launched a comprehensive iPhone application – Travel Health - for travellers to use in the event of medical problems while overseas and far from reliable medical care.
The Travel Health application was created by Dr Deb – The Travel Doctor, who authors the popular book Travelling Well, which has more than 140,000 copies in print.
The Travel Health application will now allow travellers to access information on the best practice treatment for their problem to assist them in getting back on track as soon as possible.
Dr Deb said travellers often left medical books at home due to their weight but this application could be downloaded to iPhones, meaning travellers could have access to medical information at the touch of their fingertips, with no extra luggage.
According to Dr Deb, technology means the information is presented is a more user-friendly way, making it faster to access information when needed.
“I have spent months developing the Travel Health application to ensure it is user friendly without compromising the information,” Dr Deb said.
“One of the key aspects of the application is that users see important STOP warnings before accessing the general information about particular symptoms so users know when to treat themselves and when they need to urgently seek medical advice.
“Along with providing details about the symptoms to help with diagnosis, it outlines simple treatments and detailed information about medications, indications, side effects, dose etc.”
To date, feedback on the app has been overwhelmingly positive, and it has stayed in the top 20 medical apps since its launch on iTunes a month ago.
The Travel Health application covers treatment for Gastro and stomach problems, chest problems, fever, altitude sickness, cold climate problems and more.
The app is the perfect resource for travellers who cant pack their personal physician in their luggage!
The application can be purchased via iTunes and has an introductory price of $3.99 (full price will be $7.99) For more great travel information and resources, visit www.drdeb.com.au.
