The spectacular Humpback Whales are on their annual migration back to their Antarctic feeding grounds and have been putting on a magnificent show for guests and visitors of Eco Beach Wilderness Retreat.

Normally sighted From July to October the Humpbacks, the fifth largest of the great whales, arrived early this year and have been extremely active, gracefully frolicking around Eco Beach’s luxury 50′ catamaran ‘Windcheetah’, breaching, rolling, tail diving and slapping their pectoral fins and generally having a Whale of a time before continuing on their way.

“The Whales are relaxed and have been circling the boat and going underneath and popping up on the other side” reported Eco Beach’s resident Whale enthusiast, Dave Harvey. “Another amazing experience today, we initially came across two humpback whales cruising with ’round-outs’ and ‘low tails’. Then we saw a single humpback whale breaching close by. It half breached over a dozen times and in between it performed ‘pec rolls’, ‘tail dives’, & blew bubbles. It was very relaxed and quite curious of us.” He stated.

Four hour Whale Watching cruises from Eco Beach operate on Monday, Thursday Friday and Sunday and there is no better place to view these majestic creatures than on the on the large open decks of Eco Beach’s fully equipped, luxury vessel.

Eco Beach Wilderness Retreat also offers a Full Day Eco Sailing Cruise from Broome on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday where guests can enjoy a 3 hour sail to Eco Beach, disembark for a relaxing lunch and a tour of the Retreat before their return cruise to Broome later in the day.

For those wanting to spend overnight or longer at the amazing Eco Retreat, sailing cruise transfers to and from Eco Beach are also available and Whales and other marine life including Turtles, Dolphins and Manta Rays may be spotted on this journey across the azure waters of Roebuck Bay.
