Special Cruise Discounts Released for Pensioners
Fares for pensioners on Australia’s only traditional ocean liner, Athena, have been cut by up to 22 per cent and supplements for solo pensioners thrown overboard on two cruises next summer.
Until August 31, 2010, Classic International Cruises is offering special discounts for Australian Pensioner Concession Card holders on two of Athena’s voyages to and from Australia this November and next February:
* 35-night voyage from Rome to Perth via nine ports in Europe, Egypt and Asia, sailing November 14, 2010. Fares for Pensioner Card holders are from $4695 per person, twin-share, (normally $5995 per person) while solo pensioner card holders can pay the normal twin rate of $5995 for single use of a cabin without the normal 25 per cent solo supplement. A shorter 28-night sector on this cruise from Rome to Singapore is also available for pensioner card holders from $3995 per person, twin-share, or from $5050 for solo travellers. Valid for new bookings until August 31, 2010. *
* 20-night round-trip cruise from Perth to six ports in Asia and sailing past the famous Krakatau volcano, sailing Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2011. Fares for Pensioner Card holders are from $2895 per person, twin-share, (normally $3450 per person) while fares for solo pensioner card holders start at $3495 for single use of a cabin without the normal 25 per cent solo supplement. Valid for new bookings until August 31, 2010. *
Fares on Athena include accommodation with bathroom, gratuities, port charges and all onboard meals, entertainment and activities, with Australian dollars used as the onboard currency, adding to the savings.
Offering 13 cruises to and from Australia next summer, the classic-styled, mid-sized Athena carries only 550 passengers in an intimate, yacht-like atmosphere and boasts personal, old-fashioned service and fine cuisine as well as traditional wooden deck chairs, marbled reception foyer, pool, fitness centre and sauna, five bars and lounges, nightclub, showlounge, casino, library, boutiques, cinema and two restaurants. And all cabins have a full-sized bath – a luxury only found in suites on the latest superliners.
