<p>The conveniently-located property, just walking distance from the heart of Port Vila, has completed work on the majority of its rooms and apartments, as well re-furbishing the lobby and reception area, with the rest of its accommodation areas to completed by the end of April.</p>

<p>General manager Hiro Osuka said that the 69 rooms and 12 apartments at the three-star property had been fitted with new bathrooms, furniture and soft furnishings. The balance of work will be completed in time to launch a marketing push in Australia late in April.</p>
<p>He said that the rooms had been freshened and modernised to cater for the property’s clientele of young people, families, retirement couples and business people.</p>
<p>Mr Osuka said that the Melanesian’s customers appreciated the value for money offered by a room rate ranging from about $170 on a bed and breakfast basis, depending on the season. The 12 one-and two-bedroom apartments are available from around $230 &#8211; a very attractive rate for families wanting to do some of their own cooking.</p>
<p>The Melanesian will also be offering the attraction of free stays for children. The deal will permit two children aged up to 12 to stay free if they are in the same room as their parents and eat for free when dining with their parents.</p>
<p>The recent renovations also provided wireless internet connections in all rooms for a small charge, plus Internet café facilities in the foyer.</p>
<p>The Melanesian is renowned for its Cultural Entertainment Night on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights which includes an all-you-can-eat BBQ for about $20.</p>
<p>The property has also refurbished its restaurant, Le Melanesian, and introduced a Pacific Fusion type cuisine which reflects much of the French character of Vanuatu.</p>

<p><strong>Three-quarters of respondents would take extra trips to bump up status</strong></p>
<p>The new survey demonstrates the value members attach to loyalty programs like Starwood Preferred Guest. Seventy-four percent of respondents said they would take an extra trip just to rack up miles or status in a loyalty program. And nearly the same number, 73 percent said they ve taken extra business trips solely to rack up miles or status in a loyalty program.</p>
<p><strong>Honeymoon ?</strong> <strong>Emergency ?</strong> <strong>Respondents would try subterfuge to get upgrades</strong></p>
<p>Respondents were not above telling little white lies to get a better hotel room or hotel/airline travel upgrade. Nearly half of respondents, 45%, claimed they would pretend it was their honeymoon; 25% would pretend they had a family emergency; and 20% would pretend to be someone important.</p>
<p>Among other key findings:</p>

<li>If they could <strong>only</strong> <strong>take one item with them</strong> while traveling, most respondents would <strong>take their benefits </strong>in a<br />
hotel loyalty rewards program (73%), <strong>rather than their spouse/partner</strong> (15%) or luggage (11%).</li>
<li><strong>Losing their status</strong> in a hotel loyalty program (65%) <strong>scares respondents more</strong> than lost luggage (12%) or missing a flight (11%).</li>
<li>The survey reinforces that<strong> hotel loyalty rewards programs have</strong><strong>eclipsed other rewards programs</strong> in value. Half of respondents said they consider hotel loyalty programs most important, followed by credit-card (19%) and airline loyalty programs (13%).</li>

<p>The 30-story, 271-suite <a title="blocked::http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/crowneplaza/hotels/us/en/bogota/bogha/hoteldetail?rpb=hotel&amp;crUrl=/h/d/6c/1/en/hotelsearchresults" href="http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/crowneplaza/hotels/us/en/bogota/bogha/hoteldetail?rpb=hotel&amp;crUrl=/h/d/6c/1/en/hotelsearchresults">Crowne Plaza Suites Tequendama Bogota</a>is located at the International Center Tequendama, a mixed-use building featuring meetings facilities, offices and apartments. It is just minutes from downtown and the financial district, modern shopping malls, gourmet restaurants and cultural attractions. The property is also located just 20 minutes from El Dorado International Airport.</p>
